Company email (January 2025)
"There are many additives which are animal based derivatives that we could be using here.
"Popular animal-derived fining agents used in the production of wine include blood and bone marrow, casein (milk protein), chitin (fiber from crustacean shells), egg albumen (derived from egg whites), fish oil, gelatin (protein from boiling animal parts), and isinglass (gelatin from fish bladder membranes).
These products are commonly used in the industry. They are very effective and oftentimes less expensive than the methods we use. Instead of these products, we have always relied on using Bentonite Clay and Time for settling, protein stabilization and fining."
