Company Website: (February 2024)
https://yealandswinecellar.co.nz/collections/vegan-registered
"Whilst all of our wines have been vegan-friendly for some time, we’re pleased to now be officially registered with the respected Vegan Society."
As per parent company website (https://www.palmbay.com/eco-friendly, retrieved October 2020) Yealands wines are vegan friendly.
Duncan notes (December 2019) that Babydoll wines are listed as vegan friendly on their website (https://www.babydollwines.co.nz/en/our-wines)
Company email (October 2018)
"All of our Yealands branded wines are suitable for vegans, we use a potato based starch for fining."
Company email (June 2016):
"I have re-checked with our winemaking team and all of our wines are vegan friendly from 2014 vintage onwards (except for the Peter Yealands Merlot 2014). Some of our older reds (2013 vintages) were fined with egg whites.
"We use a potato fining and NO animal products. If you look at our tasting notes on our website they will say vegan friendly. There is a view to add this information to back labels from 2016 vintages."
Company email (December 2015):
"All of our wines from, and including 2014 are vegan friendly. We did use to use egg whites on the Pinot Noir from our own free range chickens on the property but stopped doing that in 2013."
Update December 2015: Despite the answers below, there's evidence online that at least the Yealands Pinot Noir undergoes fining with eggs. We've changed that one to not vegan, and are waiting for confirmation on the others - JD
Company email (February 2015):
"The majority of our wines are suitable for vegans. Our Peter Yealands Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Noir & new aromatic blend of P.G.R are all suitable."
Company email (December 2014): re: Riesling
"Yes absolutely it is."
Company email (December 2014):
"All of our Sauvignon Blanc is suitable for Vegan and Vegetarian, which is something that I feel strongly about :). It is all made here in Marlborough."
