Company email (April 2020) re Bar Dog Wines
"Because we source wine from different producers and vineyards around the state of California, we cannot certify or guarantee that vegan fertilizers were used while growing the grapes or that vegan aids were used during the processing of the grapes prior to our receiving them to assemble the blends."

Company email (July 2019) re Fortnight
"We do not guarantee any of our products are vegan friendly because we source wine from multiple vineyards that we do not own or operate."

Company email (January 2018) re Windsor Vineyards wines:
"Unfortunately, we can't guarantee it across the board. Some of our wines are, a few are not and many we don't know for sure as we often buy bulk wine who's history is unknown to us.

"The safest and best answer is we can't guarantee that our wines are vegan friendly."

Company Email (circa 2011)
"Thanks for taking some time to reach out & ask about the veganality of SWB. Honestly I wasn't sure myself, so I turned to our winemaker Nancy to get an answer. Here's what I learned...

1) At the winery, we plan strategies during the entire winemaking process that mitigates severe issues that could necessitate aggressive treatments using animal-based, gelatin-type additives.

2) We generally don't use fining agents for our winemaking, but there are times when we need to. When we do, the agents we use may be derived from egg whites or milk-based casein.

So unfortunately the short answer is no, for strict vegans our wines can't be guaranteed 100%."
