"We have used dairy fining agents in the past, but not for several years. The last time I used it was in our 2016 Chardonnay. But all our current wines are dairy free!"
Shelly notes (July 2016):
"I called the Port of Leonardtown and they told me that their wines are not Vegan. I told them that their wines are listed on this website as Vegan and they said that they were misquoted and that they are not Vegan."
Company email (May 2013):
"Most of our wines are Vegan Friendly as we normally use bentonite for fining thus avoiding the use of animal products. We did us milk in the 2011 Chardonnay to combat sour rot in the juice prior to fermentation and our 2011 Cayuga White was treated with gelatin. Both of these were later counter-fined with tannins or bentonite and then filtered which should have removed any remaining animal product our of the wines. The fact remains though, these two wines have been touched with animal products.
All our wines are produced locally in Leonardtown at our winery from local fruit We use only pure cane surgar in our wine production. Vegan Friendly wines:
1634 Chardonnay, Vidal Blanc - dry white wine, Breton Bay Breeze - sweet white wine, McIntosh Run - sweet Apple wine, Chaptico Rose' - sweet rose' of Chambourcin, Wicomico Rose - dry rose' of Chambourcin, Chambourcin- dry red, Chambourcin Reserve - dry red, Breton Bay Shoals - sweet red, Captains Table - dry red, Quarterdeck - dry red, Cabernet Franc - dry red, Cabernet Franc Reserve - dry red, Merlot - dry red.
Non friendly"
