Company email (February 2020)
"The beer itself is made from purely natural products. However, we do 'fine' the beer before it goes out to enable it to settle.
"The finings we use are Isinglass and are made from 'animal' (fish in fact) products. All our beers contain Isinglass Finings which are traditionally made from the Swim Bladder of a Sturgeon. You don’t actually consume the finings under normal circumstances, they are there to help the beer 'settle', i.e. coagulate the yeast, and the finings together with the yeast, drop to the bottom of the cask (during settling) resulting in clear, 'bright' beer to drink."
