"The smokey flavor in Smoke Out comes from the malt--it is a specialty malt that is smoked over beech wood before it's packed up and shipped to us. For future reference, all Starr Hill beer is vegan, except for one of our All Access beers from earlier this year, Taste of Honey Belgian Dubbel, which contains local honey."
