Company email (October 2022)
"Our 21 Pale (and all of our beers) are vegan. All of our beers are made in our brewery in Munlochy (even collaborations are made here in our brewery) so no danger of it not being Vegan."
Company email (September 2020)
"Yes our beer in cans is still vegan!" [Question was specific to Blonde & Red Kite]
Company email (April 2019)
"None of our beers whatsoever contain isinglass finings. We use a synthetic fining agent called Brausol to clarify ALL of our CASK beers. All beer in bottles, can and kegs do not require any finings as both stages of fermentation are done naturally within the brewery.
"Lactose is of course derived from milk so any beer we make that uses lactose is not going to be vegan friendly.... The only beer currently on sale with lactose in is Bedhead Breakfast Stout - this was a one off brew earlier this year and will soon be sold out."
Company email (July 2017)
"All of our bottle and keg products currently produced are Vegan friendly. (A previous produced bottled beer called Pollinator which is also in Marks and Spencer under their own label - is a beer made with Heather Honey however).
"Cask beer however does use Isinglass. Having said that - the Yellowhammer in the bar is 'unfined' so contains no Isinglass. We are shortly to do the same with Goldfinch."
Company email (November 2016)
"All of our bottled beers are vegan friendly!"
Company email (January 2016)
"All of our beers in bottle and keg are vegan but our cask beer is not as we use isinglass as a fining agent."
Company email (November 2011):
"All our bottled beers are suitable for vegans."
Craig writes:
To quote from their website (www.blackislebrewery.com/organic.asp):
"Organically grown means that it has been produced without harmful artificial fertilisers pesticides or genetically modified organisms. Furthermore, because our beers do not contain finings, they are suitable for vegetarians and vegans."
