Products by Driftwood Brewing Company:

Company email (June 2014):
"The Belle Royale was not fined.

We will begin centrifuging all our beers except the White Bark (we want it cloudy!) next week. So anything with a packaging date on the cap post June 30 will be gelatin free."

Company email (August 2013):
"Our White Bark Witbier is definitely suitable for consumption by vegans.

Our other offering are fined with gelatin. The gelatin spends time in the beer, but is left behind bound in a matrix of yeast at the bottom on our conditioning tanks, so technically the beer has had contact with an animal product, but it is not carried into the final product.

I know some vegetarians that are not comfortable consuming fined beer, and others who are OK with it.

We are a small brewery and only distribute in a small area. Nobody brews our beer anywhere else."

Note from Brett:
"@driftwoodbeer Just wondering if your beer's vegan? I know I could check your site, but, hey, I'm lazy. Any albumin, isinglass, etc. in it?

@TheTastyVegan White Bark is not fined, but the others are. We don't filter our beers because they taste better that way!

Don't know TheTastyVegan. Maybe s/he sent this to you already. Anyway, they seemed receptive to exploring alternatives. Sent a tweet about switching to Biofine Clear. Let you know if I hear anything."
Barnivore Note: We've tried to contact the company directly, and have not head back to confirm this information from this 3rd party.

Company email:
"While we do not filter any of our beer and none of them contain animal ingredients, we do use gelatin to help clarify the finished products... except in White Bark Wheat Ale where we do not use any clarifying agents."
